Winter (watercolour)

I can sell this one as a greeting card. Very typical!

Moonlight Mystery (watercolour)

I painted this from a photograph on Picasa. Purely for the colours. After 4-5 attempts managed this one. The perspective, I noticed later, is little off, but who cares??

Save time - Click on "Better Ones".

Clicking on "Better Ones" on the right, will show you relatively better paintings! So no need to go through all the not so good ones! It's a time-saver!!

Mount St. Michael (water colour)

This is my first attempt at this fascinating structure. Again tried with minimum details. Want to vary the colour a bit the next time.

Painting without details

Many of my paintings get spoiled when I try to add every detail on the photograph. So yesterday I decided to do some rapid paintings without bothering about details. So I was just painting fast, without waiting for the colours to dry. Idea was only to add colours, shadows (or tones) in the shapes drawn broadly. I managed to finished 4 paintings in around 2 and half hours. I enjoyed it a lot! The process of painting is always more enjoyable to me than the end result which is more like an accident - sometimes good, sometimes disastrous!

Completed cityscape

I am now deliberately trying to get out of my comfort zone and moving away from landscapes to more complex city paintings etc, mainly involving lot of "drawing" with the brush. This is one such example. More to come in next few weeks.

More mileage for my brush!

Yesterday was one more productive day. I finished almost 3 paintings. The last one, my first cityscape, is taking a long time to complete. Hopefully I will complete it by Saturday. There are times when I feel I should be working in my leisure and painting full-time!!

Snow Mountains - second attempt

I had tried painting snow mountains once before but not quite successfully. This one is little better.

Retired and Lonely (Watercolour)

Reminds me of retired veterans who are ignored by the youngsters and feel lonely in the old age!!

Storm (Watercolour)

This one is made in single colour "Payne's Grey" (one tube, 2 brushes, tissue papers and lot of water!). The white is untouched paper and the lighter shades are created by diluting the colour and also by taking out some colour with tissue papers. The wet-in-wet is always unpredictable and I enjoyed this a lot. May be I will do it again sometime later.

More water

My fascination with lakes, rivers and seas continues. This one is inspired by a Picasa photograph from one of the public galleries.

Making the brush run again

After a period of inactivity, I made my brush run again yesterday. Managed to complete 4 paintings in one sitting. Three are decent enough to post here. I am increasing feeling the need to use a proper camera rather than my 2 megapixel mobile, which is simply not able to catch the true colours. The colours on the photographs refuse to look like the originals!
